The City of Dunkirk’s Music at the Point Sunset Concert Series is set to continue this Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a performance by Ion Sky. The event, which takes place at Point Gratiot Park, is sponsored by Southern Tier Environments for Living, Inc. (STEL), Lawley Insurance, and DFT Communications. As a sponsor, STEL will host a V.I.P. night with a tent, sheet pizzas, and beverages for their invited guests. Ion Sky, a local Dunkirk band formed in 2010, is known for their diverse musical repertoire, which includes rock, country, pop, and alternative music.
Ion Sky has garnered recognition as the 2023 Chautauqua County Readers’ Choice Best of the Best Local Band by The Post-Journal and The OBSERVER. The band draws inspiration from a variety of popular artists, ranging from Cee-Lo-Green and Jason Derulo to Journey and the Rolling Stones. Comprised of Tara Graves (lead vocals/acoustic guitar/keys), Gregg Stranahan (lead guitar/vocals), Jack Pasquale (bass guitar/vocals), and Bradley Heath (drums/cajon/vocals), Ion Sky promises an energetic and engaging performance for concert-goers.
In addition to Ion Sky’s performance, the Music at the Point Sunset Concert Series has lined up a series of upcoming shows featuring different bands. The schedule includes The Living Room Jam Band on August 14 (Lawley V.I.P. Night), DTO on August 21, Furious George on August 28, and Bill Ward on September 4 (make-up day). Visitors are encouraged to bring chairs, snacks, and refreshments to enjoy the music and sunset views at Point Gratiot.
To enhance the concert experience, the city of Dunkirk has collaborated with local eateries to offer a special Wednesday dinner pack menu for pick-up, with some places even providing delivery to the park. Participating food establishments include Demetri’s on the Lake, House of Birria, Lena’s Pizza, Lil Ginger’s Deli, Mary’s Deli, Off The Hook, P*Dubs, Pizza Village, Spike Dailey’s Irish Pub, Taqueria Mexicana at the Point, and The Spot on the Lake. The menu can be viewed on the Dunkirk Festivals Facebook page and the city’s website.
A special thank you goes out to Roger Gloss of Atlas Comfort Cabins/Lawn Mowing/Enviro-Kleen Services for generously donating the use of a portable toilet near the music pavilion for concert attendees.
