The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) on Sanibel has recently welcomed Allessandra Spada as its newest Conservation Education and Marketing intern. Hailing from Ithaca, New York, Spada is a senior at the University at Buffalo, where she is studying environmental geoscience. Her passion for animals and the environment has driven her to pursue this internship opportunity, which aligns perfectly with her aspirations.

The Conservation Education and Marketing Internship at CROW is a six-month program tailored for individuals interested in environmental conservation, communication, and related fields. Throughout her internship, Spada will delve into the organizational workings of CROW and apply her knowledge through public speaking engagements and outreach events. She will also gain insights into the impact of communication through various social media platforms and community partnerships with local media outlets.

Spada expressed her excitement about the internship, stating, “The focus on education and marketing provides a unique chance to raise awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation, while developing valuable skills in communication and outreach.” She sees this opportunity as a way to contribute to meaningful projects that make a positive impact on the environment and the community, while also enhancing her professional development in a field she is deeply committed to.

As part of her role, Spada engages with visitors at the Education Center and events, in addition to assisting in the development of content for CROW’s social media pages, website, and news stories. Her ultimate goal extends beyond the internship, as she hopes to leverage her knowledge of environmental issues and practical experience in wildlife rehabilitation to contribute to ecological restoration efforts.

“I care about both animals and the environment, and I hope to do something where I can help both,” Spada shared. “This internship allows me to combine my passion for environmental issues with hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation.”
