Travis Kelce, the star tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is stepping into a new role as the host of the upcoming game show, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? Set to premiere on Wednesday, October 16 on Amazon’s Prime Video, the show promises to be a fun and engaging competition for viewers of all ages.
Season 1 of the game show will consist of 20 episodes, with three episodes dropping on the premiere date. Following the initial release, one new episode will be released weekly, giving fans plenty of opportunities to test their knowledge against the celebrities.
Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? is a spinoff of the popular game show, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader. In each episode, an adult contestant will rely on a classroom full of celebrities from comedy, screen, and sports to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects pulled from elementary curriculum. The goal is to win a $100,000 prize by correctly answering all the questions.
Unlike traditional game shows where contestants compete against the celebrities, in Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, contestants enlist the help of the stars and can even “cheat” off of them in some cases. On the final question, worth $100,000, the contestant selects one celebrity to discuss the answer with before locking in their final answer. This question is always at the 6th-grade level, adding an extra layer of challenge to the game.
The lineup of celebrities enlisted for the challenge is impressive, with comedians like Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer, and Ron Funches joining the fun. Reality TV personalities such as Garcelle Beauvais from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Lala Kent from Vanderpump Rules will also be part of Season 1. Additionally, sports figures like Ryan Fitzpatrick and Chad Ochocinco, along with other notable personalities like Sophia Stallone and Lilly Singh, will be lending their knowledge and expertise to the contestants.
Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? is executive produced by Wes Kauble and Mark Burnett, with co-executive producers Sean Kelly, Steve Hughes, Susan Janis-Mashayekhi, and Tamara Akins. The series is produced by MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, and will be distributed globally by Amazon MGM Studios Distributions.
