Miriam BenMeleh, the owner of the boutique, was shocked when she received a call from a friend informing her of the incident. “A friend of mine called and she’s like, ‘Hey, there’s a car in your store,’ and I’m like, ‘You’re joking,'” BenMeleh recounted. She checked the security cameras and was stunned to see the reality of a car inside her store. This was not the first time such an incident had occurred, as BenMeleh mentioned a similar incident happening 11 years ago.
Fortunately, the business was closed at the time of the crash, and no other injuries were reported. BenMeleh expressed relief that no one was present during the accident, as it could have been much more dangerous. However, she now faces the daunting task of cleaning up the mess left behind by the crash. “You know, we have a cleaning crew and it should be fine,” she stated, trying to remain optimistic in the face of adversity.
Emergency rescue crews arrived at the scene and transported the driver to Aventura Hospital for treatment. The condition of the driver remains unknown, and it is unclear whether a medical episode may have been a factor in the crash. As of Thursday night, the store remains boarded up as repairs are underway to restore the storefront to its former state.
