Education Updates in Magic Valley

Share

As the new school year approaches, teachers in the Magic Valley are gearing up to welcome their students back to the classroom. However, many teachers face the challenge of having to purchase school supplies out of their own pockets to ensure that their students have the necessary tools for learning. To alleviate this financial burden, local nonprofit organization Project Succeed is hosting a back-to-school donation drive to support teachers in the community.

Project Succeed’s mission is to provide teachers with the resources they need to create a positive and engaging learning environment for their students. From now until August 30, community members are encouraged to donate school supplies to help teachers stock up on essential items for the upcoming school year. The goal of the donation drive is to ensure that teachers have access to the supplies they need without having to bear the cost themselves.

The suggested supply list includes a variety of items such as construction paper, notebooks, Post-It notes, folders, glue sticks, pencils, rulers, staplers, and crayons. These basic supplies are essential for classroom activities and projects, and every donation makes a difference in supporting teachers and students in the Magic Valley.

To make a donation, community members can drop off school supplies at various locations throughout the area, including Flying S Title, Zions Bank, Banner Bank, Starley-Leavitt, Guild Mortgage, Ireland Bank, AAA Insurance, Keller Williams, Java at Five Points, TitleFact, Babbles, Daisy’s, Walmart, Fred Meyer, Snake Harley-Davidson, Magic Valley Arts Council, Gooding Eye Center, Zeppe’s Pizza, Ridley’s, Prescot & Craig Insurance, and Renew Coffee.

In addition to the donation drive, Project Succeed is also hosting a back-to-school night in partnership with the Hansen School District. The event will provide an opportunity for elementary and junior/senior high school students to meet their teachers, reconnect with friends, and prepare for the upcoming school year. Similarly, the Buhl School District is hosting an ice cream social and open house to welcome students and parents back to school.

For those looking to stock up on books for the new school year, Hidden Pages Bookstore is hosting a back-to-school sale with discounts on nonfiction and fiction books. Students, parents, and teachers can take advantage of the sale to purchase textbooks and other reading materials at a discounted price.
