BYU Education Week is an annual event that draws thousands of individuals from around the world to the Brigham Young University campus in Provo, Utah. This five-day conference, scheduled for Aug. 19-23 in 2024, is designed to help participants strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ and deepen their understanding of the gospel. The event aims to contribute to the “balanced development of the total person,” as outlined in BYU’s mission statement.
Last year, Education Week attracted over 17,000 registrants who took part in nearly 1,000 classes taught by 260 presenters. This year, the program is expanding with new presenters joining returning ones, creating a diverse and engaging lineup for attendees. The highlight of the event will be a devotional by Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Additionally, classes will be presented by general presidencies of various organizations within the Church, as well as experts from the Church Educational System and other professionals in different fields.
The theme for BYU Education Week 2024 is based on Romans 12:2, “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,” emphasizing the importance of personal growth and unity in Christ. The classes and presentations at Education Week are designed to help individuals strengthen their testimonies, develop their gifts, and become positive influences on others.
Participants can attend classes from Monday to Friday, with a wide range of topics and speakers to choose from. Classes are typically 55 minutes long with 25-minute breaks in between. Education Week is open to adults and youth ages 14 and over, with specific classes tailored for youth attendees. Registration is available online, with options for full-week, partial-week, or single-day attendance.
In addition to the educational sessions, attendees can enjoy performances by BYU’s a cappella groups, Vocal Point and Noteworthy, on Wednesday and Thursday nights. These concerts are open to both Education Week participants and the general public, providing a unique entertainment experience for all.
Feedback from past attendees highlights the transformative impact of Education Week, with many expressing their intention to return year after year. Whether attending for a full week or just a portion of the event, participants can expect to be inspired and better equipped to face life’s challenges. Education Week offers a refreshing and enriching experience for all who seek to deepen their faith and knowledge of the gospel.
