Fashion Week Haus Blends Design and Empowerment in California Style Week

Share

California Style Week brought together the best of summer fashion with a touch of California cool during a recent event in Los Angeles. Produced by Fashion Week Haus, the event aimed to create a safe and inclusive space for all creatives involved, inspired by founder and CEO Cachita Maki’s experiences in the entertainment industry during the #MeToo movement. The overarching theme of the event was rooted in inclusivity and sustainability, setting the stage for a positive and collaborative atmosphere.

Maki’s vision for California Style Week was also influenced by her desire to connect with the laid-back beach culture that defines the region’s fashion trends. The event showcased a range of coastal-chic collections from brands like Amour Vert, Eclai, Faherty, Rowan, Vans, and Wilson, each embodying the essence of California style. From casual T-shirts and denim to stylish maxi dresses and jumpers, the runway featured a diverse array of designs that captured the essence of the Golden State.

The location of the event in Manhattan Beach, Calif., with its sunny skies and ocean breezes, provided the perfect backdrop for the brands’ aesthetics. Maki emphasized the importance of representing California fashion, which she described as distinct from New York or Miami fashion. California style embraces a casual and outdoor lifestyle, where it’s completely normal to see a CEO wearing Vans to a meeting. This laid-back approach to fashion was reflected in the event’s outdoor setting and beach-inspired designs.

The runway show featured a mix of sporty and chic designs, catering to the active and stylish individuals who embody California’s fashion ethos. Brands like Wilson and Vans showcased sportier looks, while Eclai offered social-worthy pieces perfect for a beachside dinner. Amour Vert presented designs suitable for a casual office wardrobe or brunch date, while Rowan and Faherty offered luxurious yet casual looks for leisurely California days off.

In addition to showcasing the latest fashion trends, California Style Week also prioritized sustainability and mindfulness. The event hosted a jean-drive eco initiative, encouraging guests to donate denim pieces to Cotton Inc.’s Blue Jeans Go Green program. A silent auction was held to benefit The Cause Connection, a local philanthropic organization based in Calabasas, Calif. Empowering women and supporting local initiatives were key components of the event, with an EmpowHER Happy Hour event and a guest list of trailblazers and influencers.

Overall, California Style Week was a celebration of California fashion, bringing together a diverse range of designers and creatives in a safe and inclusive environment. The event highlighted the unique style and spirit of the Golden State, showcasing the best of summer fashion with a touch of California cool.
