JMU men’s basketball is gearing up for an exciting week as they welcome two special guests to Harrisonburg. Preston Fowler and Christian Brown, both class of 2025 recruits, are considering joining the Dukes for the upcoming season and beyond. If Fowler decides to commit to JMU, he would become the highest-rated recruit in the history of the men’s basketball program.
Fowler shared with JMU Sports News that he will be on campus for a three-day visit from Thursday to Saturday, while Brown is scheduled to visit on Thursday and Friday. 24/7 Sports has ranked Fowler as a four-star recruit, placing him among the top 125 prospects nationally. This potential commitment would mark a significant milestone for the Dukes, as they have never secured a four-star recruit in their program’s history.
In comparison, former JMU star Terrence Edwards Jr. was a three-star recruit when he committed to the Dukes, making him the third-highest rated recruit in the program’s history. Edwards went on to lead JMU to an NCAA Tournament victory over Wisconsin and was named the Sun Belt Player of the Year. Fowler, a 6’8 small forward from Connecticut, has attracted attention from prominent programs such as Oklahoma State, Penn State, and Wake Forest.
While Brown may not be listed as a four-star recruit, 24/7 Sports recognizes him as a talented three-star player. The Tennessee prospect, also a 6’8 small forward, has received scholarship offers from respected mid-major programs like App State and Murray State. Both Fowler and Brown bring size and skill to the court, making them valuable additions to any team.
In addition to Fowler and Brown, JMU is also in contention to secure the commitment of four-star prospect Jamarion Davis-Fleming, a center from Mississippi. Davis-Fleming has listed JMU, LSU, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss as his top four choices. His upcoming visit to JMU coincides with Family Weekend, where the football program will host Ball State.
The potential addition of any of these high-school recruits would be a significant boost for Coach Spradlin and the JMU men’s basketball program. As they continue to attract top talent and build a competitive roster, the Dukes are poised for success in the upcoming seasons. Fans eagerly await the decisions of Fowler, Brown, and Davis-Fleming, as they could shape the future of JMU basketball.
