How does Tennis Ball Therapy work?
Take one or two tennis balls and get ready for some relief. There are some simple steps on how to use a tennis ball for massaging sciatica pain:
- Lay on the floor and rest the tennis ball under the buttocks (gluteal muscle) where you experience the pain
- Raise the same leg up in the air so that the other leg, arms and back are supporting you on the floor
- Now you start to slide your glute over the tennis ball gradually and steadily
- Any time you feel any pain, pause for some seconds, so the pain could release and then you continue to roll
Remember, if you feel a pain point, ought not to be too strong. If it becomes strong or excruciating, adjust the ball or even add more balls to stop of that direct pressure from a single ball.
You will want to compress every activation point you find for about 10 to 15 seconds before you move on to the next spot. Another option is to roll around softly back and forth over top of the pain region.
