Lucy Liu, one of the three stars to appear in the 2000 hit film Charlie’s Angels and its subsequent sequel in 2003 expressed her excitement about the upcoming reboot of the franchise. Twilight famed Kristen Stewart will be appearing in the lead roles along with Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.

The 49-year-old Chinese-American star asserted that the new Elizabeth Banks directed project shows “positive result for women”. She stated earlier this week, that the project is very thrilling for her and she’s looking forward to seeing how it goes for the Kristen Stewart starrer.

The star’s words surely reassured Kristen Stewart, as she has been receiving negative buzz from many people in the industry about her role in this reboot of the 2000’s classic. Stewart eagerly hopes audiences will give her “well-intentioned” version a chance.

28-year-old Stewart told reporters, “That is really cool that she said that”. She expressed her excitement about her involvement in the film she grew up watching and wants to justify her role at any cost.

She insists the film will offer something new for her audiences and will promote a message of female empowerment. To her, the re-imagining is well-intentioned and will live up to the mark the original films created.

The first movies were also a retelling of the famous TV series, which ran from 1976 to 1981. ABC also attempted a new series in 2011, but that lasted for only a single season.

Stewart has been training hard in the gym for her new role, which will start shooting next week. She has been taking on boxing classes and expressed her excitement to meet with the other girls.

The film, however, is not coming to screen anytime soon. It’s scheduled for 2019, though production may take extra time. So, fans need to keep patience and hope that the new stars justifies the original movies.
