The Lycoming College football team had an impressive offensive showing last season, despite being inexperienced in key positions. The offense finished as the third-highest scoring unit in the Landmark Conference, showcasing the potential and talent of many young players who were stepping into starting roles for the first time. These players not only showed flashes of brilliance but also improved steadily throughout the season, contributing significantly to the team’s success.

One of the standout aspects of the offense was the emergence of a dynamic freshman running back tandem in Quasim Benson and Terrence Oliver. These two players made an immediate impact, combining for over 1,300 rushing yards and proving to be a formidable force in the backfield. Oliver, in particular, stood out with 757 rushing yards and five 100-yard games, earning himself second-team all-Landmark honors. Benson also showcased his talent, surpassing 550 yards despite missing two games due to injury.

In addition to the strong running game, the receiving corps also played a crucial role in the team’s offensive success. Dawson Debebe, a freshman wide receiver, quickly established himself as a deep threat and led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. His ability to make big plays down the field added another dimension to the offense and kept defenses on their toes.

Heading into the upcoming season, the Lycoming offense is poised for even greater success with the majority of last year’s unit returning. Coach Mike Clark expressed excitement about the skill and potential of the team’s offensive players, highlighting the depth at the receiver position and the talent at the running back position.

Players like Debebe, Benson, and Oliver are expected to continue making big plays and scoring touchdowns for the team. With a strong supporting cast that includes returning players like Brandon Timothy, Billy Coppock, and Ross Eyer, the offense is well-positioned to build on last season’s success and put up impressive numbers on the scoreboard.

Quarterback Will Fish and tight end Brendan Clark also look to continue their development and build on their first seasons as starters. With a year of experience under their belts, the offense is more cohesive and confident heading into the new season, with a clear understanding of their roles and capabilities.

Overall, the Lycoming offense is primed for a successful season, with high expectations and a goal of scoring 35 points per game as a team. The combination of talent, experience, and determination within the unit bodes well for exciting moments and performances on the field, making them a team to watch in the upcoming season.
