Nikon unveils its first batch of Mirrorless Cameras

Share

It has been more than 5 years since the mirrorless technology has become a hype in the photography world. This sensational technology has been called the future of cameras for some time now used by the biggest brand like Nikon.

Till now, Nikon and Cannon, two giant photography camera manufacturer have resisted this technology and depended on the proven SLR technology. Whereas, many opponents such as Sony embraced it and went on to create a new chapter.

Only recently Nikon has adopted the technology and unveiled their first ever mirrorless cameras. They announced the arrival of two cameras, the Z6 and Z7 on Thursday and they are pushing for a high end market this time.

The Z series consists of these two cameras with a new lens mount. The mount is something many photographers were looking forward to for some time now. It is an improvement on the decade old F mount. The cameras also feature solid back compatibility for people who can’t bear to part with their old standby kit.

Both the Z6 and Z7 are full frames and the sensor is as big as a 35mm still film frame. These cameras are intended for professional photographers or serious hobbyists who are willing to pay big bucks for higher quality.

Nikon has envisioned for an elevated market with these cameras. As they are going to cost you a good amount of money. The Z7 starts at $3,400 and sits squarely in professional territory. On other hand, at $2,000, the Z6 sacrifices resolution but offers some other advantages over the previous option.

Overall, Nikon have stepped on to a new era and are hoping to become a serious threat to Sony. The latter, switched way earlier to mirrorless technology and that has been going pretty well for them. Lets see how much it helps photographers, as the new rivalry is surely going to bring out some great products at a much competitive price.
