Paula Kellerer, the former superintendent of the Nampa School District, has been announced as the new president and CEO of Idaho Business for Education (IBE), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving Idaho’s education system. This announcement comes as longtime leader Rod Gramer prepares to retire after more than 11 years of service to the organization.
IBE represents nearly 250 business leaders who share the common goal of enhancing Idaho’s education system. Kellerer, who currently serves as the vice president of IBE’s youth apprenticeship program, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Prior to her time at IBE, she served as the superintendent of the Nampa School District for six years and held various administrative roles in public schools. Kellerer also has a doctorate degree in educational leadership, making her well-equipped to lead IBE in its mission to create a highly educated and skilled workforce for Idaho’s future.
In a news release, Kellerer expressed her gratitude for Gramer’s leadership and emphasized her commitment to continuing the important work of fostering collaboration between employers, educators, and other partners. She highlighted the need for effective partnerships to ensure that Idaho’s workforce is prepared for the challenges of the future.
Rod Gramer, the outgoing president and CEO of IBE, has been praised for his advocacy for state investments in teacher salaries, literacy, and workforce training programs. Throughout his tenure, Gramer has been a vocal opponent of private school choice, arguing that such subsidies would negatively impact Idaho’s public school system. Despite his retirement, Gramer has expressed his intention to remain involved with IBE as a volunteer and advocate for education.
The transition in leadership at IBE marks a significant moment for the organization, with Kellerer poised to take the reins and lead the organization to new heights. Board chairman Andy Scoggin expressed his gratitude for Gramer’s contributions and his excitement for Kellerer’s appointment, citing her deep academic and professional background in Idaho education.
This leadership change follows another significant shift earlier in the year when former vice president Robert Sanchez departed to lead the Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children. As IBE looks to the future, the organization will continue its mission of strengthening education and preparing students for success in school, work, and life under Kellerer’s leadership.
