Đà Nẵng International Airport in Đà Nẵng City is set to offer a unique cultural experience to flight passengers through art performances showcasing Vietnamese culture. This initiative is a collaboration between the Đà Nẵng International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) and the Đà Nẵng College of Culture and Arts. The goal is to enhance the art programme Heritage Road, which takes place at the international departure terminal T2.
Since its debut in December 2022, the Heritage Road programme has become a cultural highlight at Terminal T2, featuring over 330 special art performances every Thursday to Sunday. The programme has showcased a variety of historical and regional art forms such as tuồng (classical drama), nhã nhạc Huế (Huế court music), chầu văn (ritual singing), and traditional musical instrument performances. The programme has received positive feedback from international tourists, creating a vibrant cultural exchange space at the airport.
To further enrich the programme, AHT has partnered with the Đà Nẵng College of Culture and Arts to introduce new performances. These include the lantern dance Đêm Hội Phố Hoài (Hoài Street Festival Night), the Arirang monochord, and the Apsara dance Lung Linh Tháp Cổ (Sparkling Ancient Tower). These performances are scheduled between 10pm to 11pm daily, providing passengers with a unique cultural experience before their flights.
A representative from the Đà Nẵng College of Culture and Arts expressed that through the programme, they aim to showcase the beauty of Vietnamese culture to international visitors while providing students with valuable experience for their artistic development. Participating in the programme will significantly contribute to the students’ future careers in the arts.
According to AHT Deputy General Director Đỗ Trọng Hậu, the collaboration with the Đà Nẵng College of Culture and Arts will diversify the artistic performances of the Heritage Road programme, allowing students to enhance their performance skills and engage with foreign tourists. The programme is expected to play a crucial role in preserving and promoting local culture to international visitors.
The organisers hope that the arts programme will offer passengers meaningful experiences before their flights, further establishing Đà Nẵng as an attractive and unique tourist destination. With continuous efforts to improve facilities and enhance passenger experiences, including the Heritage Road programme, Đà Nẵng International Terminal was awarded a five-star rating by Skytrax on January 1, 2024, making it the first and only terminal in Vietnam to receive this prestigious recognition.
As of 2023, only 19 airports and three airport terminals worldwide have been rated five stars by Skytrax, highlighting the exceptional standards of service and facilities at Đà Nẵng International Terminal. This recognition solidifies the airport’s position as a world-class facility that offers passengers a memorable and culturally enriching travel experience.
