The 36-year-old singer opted for a nearly naked mesh bodysuit adorned with red and gold jewels that wound across her body, creating a halter-neck bralet before descending down her legs. The look was completed with a matching headpiece and impressively sizeable wings made of yellow, orange, fuchsia, and red feathers that trailed down to the floor.
Crop Over is a festival that takes place annually in Barbados to celebrate the end of a successful sugar harvest. Rihanna, who rose to fame as a singer in the noughties, has been a regular attendee at the festival, collaborating with designer Lauren Austin on her elaborate outfits. Speaking to Nylon in 2018, Austin praised Rihanna for constantly challenging the norm in the fashion world and pushing boundaries with her fearless style choices.
Prior to her return to Crop Over this year, Rihanna had not attended the festival since 2019 due to the pandemic and her two pregnancies. She welcomed her first son, RZA, in May 2022, and her second son, Riot, in August of the same year with her long-term partner, A$AP Rocky. Despite having properties in Beverly Hills and Hollywood, Rihanna still considers Barbados, her birthplace and childhood home, to be her true home.
In a recent interview with Interview magazine, Rihanna expressed her deep connection to Barbados, stating that the island will always be home to her. Her festival appearance comes on the heels of the launch of her highly anticipated haircare range, Fenty Hair.
