Sentinels lose first two games of the season | Latest Updates on News, Sports, and Job Opportunities

The 2024-2025 school season is a historic one for the Minot North Sentinels as they embark on their first year of varsity sports school-wide. Among the teams making their debut is the boys soccer team, which kicked off their season with two challenging games against tough opponents.

In their first game against Grand Forks Red River, the Sentinels faced a tough test as the Roughriders secured an 8-0 victory. Despite the loss, the Sentinels showed resilience and determination on the field. Sophomore Griffin Wald showcased his skills in goal, making an impressive 12 saves, while seventh grader Brantley Robinson added four saves in relief. The Roughriders’ Ebube Asoqwa and Logan Lambl each scored two goals to secure the win for their team.

In their second game against Grand Forks Central, the Sentinels continued to show improvement and growth as a team. Despite falling to a 14-3 defeat, the game marked a significant milestone for the Sentinels as sophomore Logan Ovitt scored the first two goals in the school’s history. Ovitt’s goals were assisted by junior Malychi Baldwin and eighth grader Gavin Wald, showcasing the team’s collaborative effort on the field. Griffin Wald once again stood strong in goal, recording six saves against a formidable Central offense led by Sam Christman and Kaiden Peterson.

The Minot North boys soccer team boasts a diverse roster, with players ranging from juniors to seventh graders. This mix of experience and youth bodes well for the team’s future as they continue to develop and grow throughout the season. With upcoming games against Williston and cross-town rivals from Minot High, the Sentinels have ample opportunities to showcase their skills and compete against top-tier competition.
