September Virtual Workshops Planned on Franchises, Software, and Patents – Jamestown Sun

The Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center is offering a series of online presentations tailored to the needs of the small business community. These presentations, scheduled for September 11, 17, 24, and 25, cover a range of topics essential for entrepreneurs looking to start or grow their businesses. The best part? These presentations are free for all participants.

The first presentation, “Buying a Franchise,” will be held on September 11 from noon to 1 p.m. Sara Matta, a seasoned business consultant with over a decade of experience in the restaurant industry, will lead this session. She will delve into the intricacies of franchise ownership, discussing how it differs from other small businesses, the business model, franchisor support, and franchisor marketing. This presentation is a must-attend for anyone considering franchise ownership as a business venture.

On September 17, the focus shifts to “Building Your Business with AgPlan Online Software.” This online presentation, scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, will explore the use of AgPlan online business planning software to support the implementation of business ideas and goals. Curtis Mahnken, an Extension economist with the Center for Farm Financial Management at the University of Minnesota, will guide participants in creating a business plan to bring their vision to life.

The following week, on September 24, attendees can join the “Introduction to Patents, Trademarks, and Copyrights with Fargo Patent & Business Law” presentation from 1 to 2 p.m. Led by Tom Kading, owner of Fargo Patent & Business Law, this webinar will provide an overview of the basics of intellectual property and how businesses can protect and utilize it effectively. Through real-world examples, participants will gain valuable insights into safeguarding their intellectual property rights.

The series concludes on September 25 with an online discussion featuring Adam Zach, the founder of Zegacy. As a successful entrepreneur who transitioned from an engineer to a business owner, Zach will share his journey and insights into starting and growing a business. Zegacy, a startup sister company to Home Equity Partner, was founded by Zach to address the growing demand for home ownership and provide investors with opportunities in real estate.
