Women tennis sensation Serena Williams has been banned from wearing her iconic “catsuit”-from Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ at future French Open tournaments. The president of the tournament, Bernard Giudicelli has said in an interview that, Williams will need to be more conservative at future editions of the tournament.

Earlier this year, Williams caught eyes during the Roland Garros when she donned a black catsuit on her return to the grand slam. The suit is a direct reference to one of Marvel Universe’s most famous comic.

The stunt was more than just a fashion statement, as it helped Williams to cope with post maternal complications. The full-length, skin-tight outfit is designed to protect against blood clots, which has been diagnosed by the star’s doctor just after giving birth to her daughter Olympia.

Williams stated earlier, that her C-section wound popped open due to the intense coughing she endured. After going under surgery, the doctors found a swelling of blood clots or a hematoma in her abdomen. The tennis star asserted that the outfit prevents dangerous clots from traveling to her lungs and is necessary for her health.

She also addressed that the bodysuit made her feel “like a warrior princess” and she was presented with “an opportunity to inspire a whole different group of amazing women and kids.”

Williams has yet to wear the outfit since the French open. Although it seems like she will not get the chance to wear it in future versions of the championship.

The statement of the French Open president Bernard Giudicelli came as a surprise, as many fans of the American tennis star does not think the decision was either necessary or appropriate. The star has not commented on this incident till now, but sharp criticism has drawn place of the decision on social media websites.
