Former Disney Channel star Skai Jackson made headlines last week after being arrested for battery at Universal Studios Hollywood. The 22-year-old actress was detained by responding officers from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station on Friday, Aug. 9. Camera footage reviewed by authorities allegedly indicated that Jackson was the primary aggressor in the incident, where she reportedly pushed her boyfriend twice inside the park.
The detective assigned to the case revealed that the couple did not deny the altercation but tried to downplay the situation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and Jackson’s boyfriend declined any medical attention. The actress, known for her roles in Disney Channel shows like “Jessie” and “Bunk’d,” is reportedly engaged and pregnant, according to TMZ.
Following the incident, Jackson was booked for misdemeanor spousal battery and released after posting a $20,000 bond. Her arraignment at Van Nuys Superior Court is scheduled for Oct. 11. A representative for the actress did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
This is not the first time Skai Jackson has faced backlash online. Last year, she received criticism for asking fans to pay a $5 fee to enter a raffle for an Apple MacBook computer. Defending herself on TikTok live, Jackson explained that the money collected went towards the prize, and any leftover funds would be used for a second giveaway.
Despite the controversy surrounding the raffle, Jackson made it clear that she did not need or seek monetary compensation. She reassured her followers that she was financially stable and not in need of money. The actress has continued to focus on her career, with a film titled “The Man in the White Van” currently in post-production.
