Hello A-J readers!
This week in the Lubbock business scene brought a mix of new openings and one closure. Let’s dive into the latest updates and some Best Bites recommendations that you won’t want to miss.
Starting off with the new businesses, Chicken Salad Chick and The Human Bean have made their mark in the area. Chicken Salad Chick, located at 5015 Milwaukee Ave., Suite 300, offers a variety of delicious chicken salad options. During my visit, I tried the Trio with the Fancy Nancy, Lauryn’s Lemon Basil, and Sassy Scotty. Among these, the Sassy Scotty stood out with its flavorful combination of ranch, bacon, and cheddar cheese. While the restaurant is still ironing out some details, it’s definitely worth a visit once they settle in.
On the coffee front, The Human Bean at 7019 82nd St. opened its doors recently, offering a range of specialty drinks. I had the pleasure of trying the Java Chip and the Poolside, both of which were delightful. However, the highlight for me was the chocolate-covered coffee bean that accompanies every drink, adding a unique touch to the experience.
In addition to these newcomers, Sweet Pup Co. opened a storefront at 5119 34th St., Suite A, Maverick Bank broke ground on a new location at 12705 Quaker Ave., and Pollo Rico LBK expanded with a second location at 1301 50th St., Unit #6.
Unfortunately, Urban Bricks Kitchen at 7610 Milwaukee Ave., Suite 300, confirmed its pending closure by Sept. 4 as they seek investors. It’s always sad to see a business go, but we wish them the best in their future endeavors.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to explore a farm with goats, delve into the origin story of High Plains wine, and catch up with various organizations in the community. As we approach the end of the month, stay tuned for the monthly business roundup article for September, highlighting the latest developments in the local business scene.
As we transition into fall, I’m curious to know: What’s your favorite fall-flavored drink from your go-to spot? Personally, I’m hoping Monomyth brings back the Apple Pie-Der. Feel free to share your drink recommendations by emailing me at [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of the A-J community. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and stories in the weeks to come.
