The city of Dunkirk is gearing up for an exciting evening of music as they prepare to host the Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series this Thursday. The headliners for the night will be Hello City, a Barenaked Ladies tribute band, along with opening act Mayflower Hill. The event will take place at the Dunkirk Pier, starting at 5:25 p.m. with Mayflower Hill and continuing with Hello City at 7 p.m.
Mayflower Hill, a band from Northwest Pennsylvania, brings a unique blend of country, pop, and rock to the stage. Comprised of Steve Soliwoda, Jared Cooney, Tyler Woodruff, and Dave Tucker, the band has been making music together since 2012. They have shared the stage with well-known acts such as Jo Dee Messina, Lo Cash, Dustin Lynch, and Rodney Adkins. Their self-titled debut album showcases their distinctive country rock style, and they are set to release a new full-length album later this summer.
Hello City, on the other hand, is the Northeast’s premier live tribute to Barenaked Ladies. The band features members from some of Western New York’s top original and cover bands, including Jim Marconi, Brandon Sheffer, Ben Overmyer, Alf Encina, and Adam Whiting. With decades of experience playing live shows at various venues, festivals, and events, Hello City has garnered a loyal following and consistently sells out their performances. Their setlist includes a wide range of Barenaked Ladies’ hits, complete with live show mashups and entertaining stage antics.
In addition to the music, attendees can enjoy food and beverage vendors on-site, as well as the city’s beverage tent. The Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace and surrounding businesses will also be open for guests to explore. It is recommended that attendees bring their own chairs for seating, as the pier will close at 2 p.m. on the day of the event, with all parked vehicles needing to be cleared by that time.
