The internet blackout and curfew imposed in the aftermath of these events only added to the sense of fear and uncertainty that gripped the country. As a foreigner living in Chittagong, I felt the impact of these developments acutely, as the safety of myself and my students became a growing concern.
The situation reached a boiling point on the 5th of August when news broke that Shaikh Haseena had resigned and fled the country.
